Also I was looking at a 1x2 call in my district because I live in the 4 area but the call I want is technically a 4 area suffix so I think I qualify but im not 100% sure. from what i understand the FCC has like different application windows based on your license class and whether youre a club or a silent key situation? so if im just a regular new general trying to get a 1x3 call in a district where i dont even live, am i basically at the back of the line behind everyone else? and how long does it usually take, like are we talking days or weeks before you find out if you got it or not.

A vanity call sign is one assigned by the FCC to replace your existing call sign - but newly licensed individuals cannot get a vanity call as their first call sign. You have to get your initial sequential assignment first, then apply for vanity later if desired.
