first POTA activation went sideways but still had fun

so i finally did my first activation last weekend at a state park about 45 minutes from my house. brought the ft-891 and a random wire i threw together the night before, figured id just wing it. well the feedline i packed had a bad connector i didnt know about and spent probably 20 minutes wondering why my swr was through the roof before i figured it out. once i sorted that out though i got my 10 contacts pretty easy on 40m, ended up staying an extra hour just because it was nice out and people kept calling me. kinda addicting honestly

haha yeah the bad connector thing has gotten me too. i now keep a spare pl-259 and some coax in my kit just because of stuff like that. congrats on the activation though, once you get that first one done they get way easier to plan for. i do mostly SOTA now but POTA is way more chill if you dont want to hike a mountain every time

40m was treating people pretty well last weekend from what i heard. did you log it on the app yet or still doing it manually? im still figuring out the adif stuff for uploading
