Linear Transponder Doppler Correction Issues with Icom IC-9700

I've been working linear transponders like MO-122 and Fox-Plus with V/u inverting transponder configurations and finding Doppler tracking challenging when not using computer control. Most linear satellites use inverting transponders where you transmit LSB on the uplink and it appears as USB on the downlink. My issue is with the IC-9700's satellite mode - only correct computer control ensures stations stay on the same frequency during the pass. Currently using SatPC32 for frequency control but looking for alternatives. Has anyone compared the linear transponder Doppler correction strategies in different tracking software?

Been using the 9700 for transponders for three years. Skip the built-in satellite mode entirely - it's awful for linears. SatPC32 is solid for controlling both radio and rotator, though the interface could use work. Ham Radio Deluxe works well too if you already have it.

Try tuning the uplink frequency while transmitting to keep the downlink frequency constant. That's the standard technique for manual correction. Use maximum 5 watts to a 7 dBi antenna (25w EIRP) - lower power works well too.

Check your tracking software settings - the software must simultaneously decrease uplink while increasing downlink as the satellite approaches to maintain signal within the transponder's passband. That's critical for proper linear operation.
