anyone going to the hamfest in Dayton this year or is it just me

 Loading...

so i've been trying to convince a couple guys from my local club to make the trip up to Dayton this year and nobody seems that interested which is kind of a bummer. ive gone maybe 4 or 5 times over the years and yeah its a lot of walking and the parking situation is always a mess but honestly its still worth it just for the swap meet tables alone. found a barely used FT-857D for like 200 bucks a few years back and that thing is still in my truck to this day.

anybody else planning to go? and if anyone knows if the ARRL forum sessions are worth sitting through this year id be curious, last time i went to one it was pretty dry honestly

I went for the first time last year and honestly had no idea what to expect. It was kind of overwhelming but in a good way I think. Didn't buy anything because I didn't really know what I was looking

yeah im going, driving up from Kentucky with a buddy from my club. we usally make a whole weekend out of it, stay at that motel off 35 that isnt too bad. the swap meet is really the only reason i bother at this point, the vendor hall is fine but prices in there are basically retail so whats the point. bring cash and get there early friday morning if you want the good stuff, by saturday afternoon the table guys are just trying to unload whatever and the quality drops off fast

I went for the first time last year and honestly had no idea what to expect. It was kind of overwhelming but in a good way I think. Didn't buy anything because I didn't really know what I was looking at half the time but I talked to a bunch of people and got some ideas for antennas I want to build. Might try to go again this year if I can get the time off work.
