SatPC32 vs Gpredict for linear transponder Doppler control - seeking recommendations

I'm upgrading my satellite station for serious linear transponder work and need reliable computer control for my IC-9100. Currently torn between SatPC32 (which can control both radio and rotator) and Gpredict (which uses Hamlib for rig/rotor control).

My main concern is accurate Doppler compensation during passes. Linear transponders require simultaneous frequency adjustments - decreasing uplink while increasing downlink as satellite approaches. I've heard SatPC32's UI doesn't scale well on high-resolution monitors but it seems purpose-built for this application.

Anyone running either package with an IC-9100 for linear birds? Looking for real-world experience with tracking accuracy and CAT control reliability.

I've been using SatPC32 with my IC-9100 for three years now. The real-time CAT control is vital due to continuous velocity changes, and SatPC32 handles this flawlessly. Yes, the UI is dated, but it's rock-solid reliable for serious operation.

Gpredict user here with IC-9700. Multi-platform implementation works great, and being free software under GPL is a huge plus. The Hamlib integration has improved significantly in recent versions. Haven't had any issues with Doppler accuracy on AO-7 or FO-29.

Both will work, but consider your operating style. Different transponder modes require specific compensation strategies - linear transponders need reversed corrections. SatPC32 excels at this complexity. Gpredict is more versatile if you work other modes too.
