anyone else doing the tuesday night net lately? missed a few weeks and feel out of the loop

 Loading...

so ive been trying to get back into checking in on the regional 2m net on tuesday nights and last week i finally remembered to tune in but i wasnt sure if the schedule had changed or if it moved frequencies. i used to check in pretty regularly maybe a year ago but life got busy and i kind of fell off it for a while.

anyway i guess my question is more general too — how do people even keep track of nets these days? like is there a good resource for finding schedules because the ones i find online look like they havent been updated since like 2014. also been curious about those special event stations, i heard there was one for some anniversary of something last month and totally missed it. feels like i always find out after the fact.

not sure if this is even the right place to ask but figured someone here probably knows whats going on with this stuff better than me

the ARRL net directory is decent but yeah you're right it can be out of date, the better thing honestly is just to find your regional club and ask around because most nets have a Facebook group or an email list or something these days. the tuesday night net you're probably thinking of — if it's the one i'm thinking of — did move up about 15 minutes a while back, net control mentioned it was to avoid a conflict with another net on a neighboring repeater.

for special event stations i just watch the ARRL website, they post them under operating resources and you can usually see a few weeks out what's coming up. some of them have pretty short operating windows though so it helps to actually put it on your calendar. i missed the D-Day one two years running before i finally caught it. once you get a few special event QSL cards you kind of get hooked on chasing them, fair warning

im pretty new to all this so take this with a grain of salt but i actually just started checking into a local echolink net because i dont have HF yet and it's been really great for just getting comfortable with net procedure and everything. the net control on ours is super patient when people mess up their callsigns or forget to say over or whatever. maybe look for something like that while you're getting back into the swing of it, low pressure way to get back in the habit i think
