anyone else just sitting on 40m watching the band do nothing

 Loading...

so i've been parked on 7.200 for like the past hour just listening and there's barely anything going on tonight. usually this time of year 40m is pretty lively but its just dead quiet except for some distant AM station bleeding in from somewhere. not complaining really, sometimes its nice to just have the radio on in the background while im doing other stuff in the shack. got my old kenwood warming up and a cup of coffee and honestly thats not a bad evening. just curious if anyone else noticed conditions being weird lately or if its just my part of the country

yeah 40 has been kinda garbage on and off for me too, been blaming the solar stuff but honestly i dunno. tried calling CQ a few times this week and got nothing then out of nowhere worked a guy in New Mexico which i wasnt expecting at all. bands are weird lately

I had the same experience last Thursday. Ended up drifting over to 17m and actually had a decent run for about 20 minutes before it fell apart. Sometimes its worth just spinning the dial instead of waiting around on one frequency, at least thats what I've started doing when 40 goes dead on me.
