DXCC Honor Roll strategies - what's realistic for someone at 280 countries?

I've been working DX seriously for about 8 years now and I'm sitting at 280 confirmed countries on mixed mode. Honor Roll requires being within the top 10 entities on the current DXCC list - if there are 340 entities, that means I need 331 confirmed (minus 9 from overall count).

So I need about 51 more countries, and frankly some of these remaining ones seem nearly impossible. How realistic is Honor Roll for someone who can't travel to rare DX locations or spend thousands on DXpedition donations? Are there strategies I'm missing besides just waiting for DXpeditions?

For context, I run 100W to a tribander at 40 feet - nothing fancy but it's gotten me this far.

DXpeditions travel to remote and rare countries to activate them, often making thousands of contacts with experienced operators and multiple stations. Your station should be fine for working them - it's more about being there when they're active and having good timing with propagation.

DXpeditions are supported by donations from those seeking verifications, but that doesn't mean you need to donate thousands. Many successful Honor Roll ops got there through persistence and being ready when rare ones come on. Consider digital modes like FT8 for working weak signals too.

51 countries in 8 years of serious DXing actually puts you in good shape! Some entities are frustrated by geopolitics like North Korea and safety concerns with certain islands. Focus on the workable ones and don't get discouraged - Honor Roll is definitely achievable with patience.
