Best bands for tonight with current K-index at 1?

Just noticed on the solar reports that we have a K-index of 1 and SFI around 158. I know low K is good, but I'm still learning what bands to focus on during quiet geomagnetic conditions like this.

Planning to get on the air after dinner - should I fire up the rig on 20M or try something higher like 15M/12M? My setup is just a G5RV at 30 feet, nothing fancy. Any advice from the more experienced ops?

With K=1 and that high SFI, you're looking at excellent conditions! 20M will be solid well into the evening, but don't overlook 17M and 15M - they should stay open longer than usual tonight. Great time to work some new DX!

That's fantastic propagation for this time of year! I worked JA on 15M last night around 2300 UTC with similar numbers. Try 12M too if your antenna covers it - sometimes those quiet geomagnetic conditions really help the higher bands stay open.

K=1 is about as good as it gets for HF. Your G5RV should work great on 20M and 17M tonight. Pro tip: check FT8 activity on 15M and 12M first - if you see decent signals there, fire up SSB or CW!
