so im just parked on 7.200 with a cup of coffee doing basically nothing, which honestly is like half the hobby for me at this point. heard some guys chatting about the weather down in texas and a couple of ragchews going on further up. nothing wild but the band sounded decent considering how the solar stuff has been lately. reminds me why i got into this in the first place, just listening and occasionally throwing out my call. anybody else do this or am i just weird for finding it relaxing

nah man thats literally what i do on slow nights. sometimes i dont even transmit, just tune around and see whats happening. 40m at night is its own thing, you never know whos gonna pop up. had a guy from argentina come back to me last week when i wasnt even trying to work DX, just called CQ out of habit.

yeah 40 is my go-to for that kind of thing. though i gotta say my noise floor has been terrible lately, think its a neighbor with something running. hard to just vibe when theres an S7 buzz going on lol. but when its clean its real good for that exactly what your describing.
