finally got my ticket last week - just wanted to say hi

 Loading...

so i passed my technician exam last thursday and i've been lurking on this forum for like two months before that just trying to figure out what i was getting into. finally feel like i can actually post something. got my callsign yesterday and honestly just sat there staring at it for a while on the ULS lookup page.

made my first real contact last night on the local 2m repeater, just a quick check-in with the weekly net. the net control guy was super patient with me stumbling through my callsign. i wrote it down on a sticky note so i wouldnt mess it up but of course i still fumbled it a bit. anyway just wanted to introduce myself and say this community has been really helpful even just reading old threads.

congrats and welcome. that feeling when your callsign shows up on QRZ for the first time is something else right. dont sweat fumbling it on the first few nets, honestly everyone does it. once you say it a couple hundred times on air it just comes out automatically. if you havent already look into getting on HF once you upgrade, thats where things really open up. whats your local repeater if you dont mind me asking?

ha i remember doing the exact same thing with the sticky note. mine fell off the desk right when i keyed up for the first time and i completely blanked. net control just waited for me, didnt make a big deal of it. you'll get it. welcome to the hobby
