anyone going to the dayton hamvention this year or know of local swaps coming up

 Loading...

so ive been trying to find out whats happening in the next few months, our local club used to post a calendar on their website but i think nobody updates it anymore. dayton is the obvious one but thats a haul for me, was wondering if anybody knows of smaller regional swapfests or club hamfests coming up in the midwest area. also does your club do anything besides the monthly nets, ours does a yearly picnic which is fun but thats about it

yeah dayton is worth the drive at least once if you havent gone, i went a few years back and just wandered the flea market for like 3 hours, picked up an old hf rig for cheap that needed some work but that was half the fun. our club does a hamfest every october, nothing huge but usually a decent turnout and the tailgating is where the real deals are tbh. check the arrl website they have a hamfest finder that actually gets updated pretty regularly, that how i find most of the smaller ones near me

our club just started doing a weekly breakfast thing on saturday mornings which has been way more fun than i expected honestly, just a few guys at a diner talking radio and whatever. way more casual than the formal meetings. if your club is kinda dead it might be worth just suggesting something low key like that, sometimes people just dont want to sit through a meeting agenda
