heard the 10m band was doing something crazy this week — anyone else catch it?

so im not sure if anyone else noticed but 10 meters has been absolutely wild the past few days. i was just doing some casual listening tuesday evening and suddenly started hearing stations from all over south america coming in like they were next door. worked a few argentinian stations and one from uruguay which i dont think ive ever done on 10m before, at least not this easily.

also saw some stuff on the clusters about a new transceiver release from one of the big manufacturers but i cant remember which one now, think it was icom or yaesu, something midrange priced that people seem excited about. anyone know what im talking about? i half read the announcement and then got distracted by the pile-up on 28.450 and forgot to go back and look it up properly.

anyway just curious if others have been taking advantage of the conditions or if i just happened to catch a good opening. feels like the solar cycle is really starting to deliver lately.

yeah 10m has been on fire, caught a bunch of european stations on my end wednesday morning which was unexpected since i usually dont bother checking above 20m until later in the solar cycle. worked a handful of spanish stations and even got a weak contact into italy which made my day honestly.

the radio you're probably thinking of is the new IC-7760 or something close to that, there was a thread on one of the other forums with the full spec sheet. people are going back and forth about whether the price point makes sense compared to just buying used at this point but it looks like a solid radio from what i skimmed. i'll try to find the link later if i remember.

omg yes i had no idea 10m could even do that, im pretty new and my elmer told me 10 was basically dead for years so i never really paid attention to it. i threw my antenna up there yesterday after reading your post and managed to get like three contacts in an hour which for me is actually a lot lol. this hobby keeps surprising me
