anyone else just sitting on 40m watching the band die slowly

so its been a weird week for me radio wise. been trying to work some DX on 40 in the evenings and its just... not happening. noise floor is through the roof at my QTH lately and i cant figure out if its the neighbors new solar setup or what. anyway ended up just spinning the dial for like 2 hours last night and heard maybe 4 or 5 conversations total, couple of nets i wasnt interested in. feels quieter than usual or maybe im just used to better conditions idk

anybody else noticing this or is it just me being impatient. also caught a really nice SSB ragchew between some guys down in florida and somebody in costa rica which made me jealous because my signal couldnt even get out of the county it felt like

yeah 40 has been rough here too, im up in the PNW and the noise from all the LED streetlights they put in last year is just brutal after dark. used to be my go-to band for evening stuff but honestly ive been spending more time on 17 lately. less crowded and when conditions are even halfway decent its real nice. dont give up on it though, some nights it just opens up out of nowhere and youre suddenly working stations all over the place

lol same, spent like 90 mins calling CQ last tuesday and got one reply and it was someone two towns over. at least we talked for a while i guess
