Need advice on choosing first HF rig for base station setup

Just upgraded to General and planning my first HF base station. Looking at the ICOM IC-7300 for about $1,000 with 100 watts HF output or the Yaesu FT-991A which does 100 watts on HF and 50 watts on 2M/70cm. The IC-7300 seems popular but it's ONLY an HF radio. Should I go for multi-band capability or stick with HF-only? Also wondering about power requirements - do I need 240V service for 100W rigs or will 120V work?

The IC-7300 has a great feature set and very good performance. A zillion have been sold so there's a broad user base who can help you if you have problems. Right now there's an Icom factory coupon bringing it down to $1100, plus a $100 rebate, so great timing! For 100W rigs you'll be fine with 120V - only need 240V for legal limit amplifiers.

The FT-991A is a great option to build a shack around - that's exactly what I did as a new General. Having VHF/UHF means you can work local repeaters and still have HF for DX. It provides versatility of things you can do, even with just a Technician license before you upgraded. The waterfall display is nice too, though smaller than the 7300's.
