Programming cable vs manual entry - what's your workflow?

I've been using my Baofeng BF-F8HP for about six months now, mostly programming frequencies manually through the keypad. It's getting tedious, especially when I want to update CTCSS tones or add new repeaters I discover.

For those using programming software: What's your typical workflow? Do you use CHIRP, manufacturer software, or something else? How often do you reprogram your radio, and is the time investment in learning the software worth it?

I'm particularly curious about the zone features in newer Baofeng models - seems like it could make navigation much easier than scrolling through a long list of channels.

CHIRP is absolutely worth learning! I maintain a master spreadsheet with all my local repeaters, then import it into CHIRP when I get a new radio. Takes 5 minutes to program vs hours of manual entry.

Started doing manual programming when I got my first UV-5R, but switched to CHIRP after adding my 10th repeater. The ability to backup and restore configurations is priceless - especially when you accidentally factory reset your radio! Now I keep separate files for local, travel, and emergency frequencies.
