Question pool rotation schedule - when does Technician pool expire?

The current Technician pool was revised in 2022 and is valid until June 30, 2026. The new Technician pool becomes effective July 1, 2026 and will be valid until June 30, 2030. I'm planning to take my exam this spring - should I be studying with the current pool or wait for the new one? Each question pool is reviewed and updated on a four-year rotation, so I want to make sure I'm using the right materials.

Definitely stick with the current 2022-2026 pool for your spring exam! New pools are typically released 6 months before becoming effective to allow time for study materials to be updated. The current pool has plenty of life left in it.

While the number of questions that actually change may be small, the entire pool is considered 'new' every four years to keep up with ham radio technology advances and FCC rule changes. For now, focus on mastering the current material.

Practice test sites like Ham Radio Prep use questions taken exactly from official test pools and are always up to date with the latest changes. Just make sure whatever resource you're using shows "2022-2026" for the Technician pool.
