CQ WW DX Contest SSB: Is Anyone Else Feeling Nervous?

With CQ WW DX SSB happening October 25-26, I'm getting that familiar pre-contest anxiety. This is the weekend when "the entire world speaks the same language: CQ Contest" and HF fills like nothing else. I've been testing my gear religiously, but there's always that nagging feeling I've forgotten something critical. Any veterans have last-minute prep tips? My antenna analyzer shows everything's good, but propagation predictions look wild for this cycle. Anyone else planning to focus on the high bands if 10 and 15 meters stay alive for hours?

That nervousness means you care! Three things I always double-check: backup power source, logging software synced with contest exchange, and a printed band plan taped to the shack wall. This solar cycle has been fantastic for rates, but accuracy and discipline still win.

This will be my second CQ WW SSB! Last year I made 89 QSOs with 100W and a dipole - way better than expected. My advice from a newbie: don't worry about rate, just enjoy hearing "the world wake up and go to sleep as the bands open and close".

Been doing this for 30 years - your preparation sounds solid. Rates will be fierce, but clean exchanges save minutes over a long night. Trust your skills and remember: even smaller stations discovered how far 100 watts can go when propagation smiles in recent contests.
