First time at a hamfest - what should I expect?

Planning to hit my first hamfest this weekend at RARSfest in Raleigh. I've been licensed for about 6 months and my XYL is coming along too. What should we expect? Any tips for first-timers? I've heard the flea market can be overwhelming.

Welcome to the hamfest world! Get there early for the best deals - vendors start setting up around 7AM. Bring cash, small bills work best, and don't be afraid to negotiate on prices. The flea market is where the real treasures are hiding!

My first hamfest was intimidating but everyone was super friendly. Look for the forums and exhibits too, not just the flea market. I learned more in one day than months of YouTube videos. Have fun!

Don't miss the food vendors - hamfest food is part of the experience. Also, check out the ARRL booth for the latest club info and activities. Bring a cart or wagon if you plan on buying much gear.
