Just joined our local ARES group and putting together my first go-kit. I've got an FT-991A and a Yaesu FT-65 picked out, but I'm really confused about power solutions. LiFePO4 batteries offer long life and stable performance, but they're pricey for someone starting out. Would a basic 12V sealed lead-acid work for now, or should I save up for lithium? Also hearing about solar panels for recharging batteries during prolonged emergencies - worth it for a beginner setup?
