Regular go-kit maintenance - what's your routine?

Perform regular checks on your equipment to ensure everything is in working order. Charge batteries, test radios, and inspect cables and connectors for wear and tear. I know this is important but keep putting it off. What's everyone's go-kit maintenance schedule look like? Monthly? Quarterly? And what exactly do you check? Last month I discovered my coax had water intrusion from sitting in the truck - lesson learned the hard way!

Equipment failures may be a mere annoyance if you're only doing fun operating, but if it were a situation that really mattered, like in a disaster, a failure with no solution can have very serious consequences. I do monthly power-on tests and quarterly full deployments in the backyard.

I set phone reminders for the first Saturday of each month. Takes maybe 30 minutes to power everything up, check SWR, and verify all my programmed frequencies still work. Found a dead HT battery last month that would've been embarrassing during an activation!

Periodically update your Go-Kit components to incorporate newer, more efficient equipment and supplies. Don't just check - also review and update. I keep a maintenance log in my kit with dates and what I found. It's saved me from repeating the same mistakes twice.
