so ive been thinking about getting my ham license for a while now and finally decided to go for it. im pretty good with electronics stuff from work but not sure what the best way to study is. heard there are apps and books and online stuff but dont know whats actually worth it. also is the test really that hard or are people just being dramatic about it

I used the ARRL license manual and HamTestOnline for my tech and general. The manual is good for understanding the why behind the answers but honestly for just passing the test the online practice exams are probably enough. Take practice tests until you're consistently scoring 85% or better and you'll be fine. The actual test is pretty straightforward, mostly multiple choice and they dont try to trick you

hamstudy.org is free and worked great for me last month when i got my tech license. just drill the questions over and over until you memorize them basically. i probably did like 200 practice questions before taking the real thing and passed easy. the test isnt hard if you put in the time but there's definitely some weird stuff about frequency allocations and regulations that you just have to memorize
