This provides access to VHF and UHF bands perfect for local communication, repeater operation, and learning basic amateur radio procedures. Technician Class licensees also have privileges in four amateur service bands in the HF range (3-30 MHz).

To pass the amateur radio license test for Technician class, at least 26 questions from a 35 question written examination must be answered correctly. The exam covers basic electronics theory, FCC regulations, and safe operating practices.
