finally got my 2m/70cm rig mounted in the truck, few questions

so i've been putting this off for like two years but i finally pulled the trigger and got a Yaesu FTM-400 mounted in my F-150. ran the power cable straight to the battery with an inline fuse which i know is the right way to do it, and i got a Tram 1185 dual band antenna on a mag mount for now sitting on the roof.

couple things bugging me though. first, when i key up on 2m i'm getting a weird kind of buzzing in my truck's audio system, not horrible but definitely there. i read somewhere about adding a ferrite bead on the mic cable but hasnt fixed it fully. also not sure if i should upgrade to a lip mount or just drill a hole at some point, the mag mount feels a little sketchy at highway speeds but hasnt moved yet.

overall really happy with the setup. been hitting a repeater about 35 miles out which i never expected to do mobile. just figured id share and see if anyone had thoughts on the RFI thing

the buzzing is almost certainly getting in through the power leads, not the mic. what i'd try first is adding a good capacitor or one of those little inline noise filters right at the radio's power connector. also check that your antenna feedline isn't running parallel to any of the truck's wiring harness for a long stretch, that can cause all kinds of weird coupling.

on the mag mount thing, honestly for day to day use it's fine, ive had one on my jeep for three years and never lost it, but if you're on the highway a lot and want piece of mind a lip mount on the trunk edge or hatch is a really solid middle ground before committing to drilling. the NMO permanent mount is the gold standard obviously but no shame in working up to it. 35 miles on a repeater mobile is pretty solid by the way, what repeater is that?

yeah the RFI thing got me too when i first installed mine. turned out one of my ground connections was just not great, like i had it on a bolt that looked grounded but wasnt making solid contact. redid it to bare metal and most of the noise just went away. might be worth checking before buying a bunch of filters
