I'm preparing for my Technician license and getting conflicting advice. Some hams tell me to just drill the question pool until I can pass the practice exams. Others say I need to understand the underlying electronics and regulations. Which approach actually works better for passing the exam and being a competent operator? I don't want to waste time, but I also don't want to be one of those "appliance operators" who doesn't understand what they're doing.
