Recommendation needed: Best tracking software for multiple linear satellites in 2025

Currently running an older version of Nova for Windows but looking to upgrade my satellite tracking setup. I operate primarily linear transponders (AO-73, AO-7, RS-44) with an IC-9700 and Yaesu G-5500 rotator system.

Requirements:

  • Reliable Doppler correction for both uplink and downlink
  • CAT control integration for frequency tracking
  • Automatic rotator control with elevation compensation
  • Support for current TLE updates

I've looked at Ham Radio Deluxe Satellite module and SatPC32 ISS - any real-world experience with these for serious linear transponder work? Budget isn't a major concern if the software performs reliably.

SatPC32 ISS is absolutely rock-solid for linear transponder work. I've been using it for three years with my IC-9700 and G-5500DC setup. The Doppler correction is spot-on and CAT control is seamless once properly configured.

I switched from HRD to SatPC32 last year and haven't looked back. The learning curve is steeper but the precision is worth it. Make sure you get the rotator interface cable - the automated tracking makes working linear birds much more enjoyable.

Have you considered the new SkyRoof software? It's open-source and shows real promise, though still in development. For mission-critical operations I'd stick with SatPC32, but worth keeping an eye on for future upgrades.
