so im still pretty new to checking into nets and last night on the 2m repeater net i think i might have stepped on someone. the net control was asking for check ins and i started to give my call but then heard another station start talking at the same time. i just stopped talking but im not sure if that was the right thing to do. should i have waited for them to finish and then tried again or what? felt really awkward and now im second guessing myself about net procedures in general

happens to everyone dont worry about it. when you double with someone just stop transmitting and wait for net control to sort it out. they'll usually ask for the stations to try again one at a time. you did the right thing by backing off. most net controls are pretty patient with new folks anyway

Oh man I did the exact same thing on my first net! I was so embarrassed I didn't check in again for like a month lol. But yeah what the other guy said is right - just wait it out and let the net control handle it. They've dealt with doubles a million times before. The key thing is dont keep talking when you hear someone else, which you already figured out. You're doing fine
