Finally worked up the courage to check into my first local net tonight (K5ABC on the 146.52 repeater) but felt pretty awkward. Net Control asked for check-ins by prefix A-F and I just said my callsign - no name, location, or anything else. Should I have given more info? I heard some folks giving signal reports and mentioning their power levels. What's the proper way to check in without sounding like a complete newbie? The Net Control was super friendly and welcomed me but I want to do it right next time.
