so ive been in kind of a weird spot with the hobby lately, not really transmitting much just been tuning around on 40m at night mostly. theres something weirdly satisfying about just listening to random conversations, catching bits of dx, hearing guys work nets and stuff. dont even feel like jumping in half the time. not sure if thats a phase or what but figured id see if anyone else goes through stretches like this

yeah totally, i do that more than i probably should. sometimes i'll just park on 17m for like an hour while im doing other stuff around the shack. its almost like background noise but then you catch something interesting and suddenly youre paying attention again. nothing wrong with it, radio doesnt always have to be about making contacts i think

I went through this last winter. ended up discovering a maritime mobile net I had no idea existed just from wandering around the bands. so now i check in to that sometimes. point being you might stumble onto something cool if you just keep listening
