anyone else just not feeling the hobby lately

i dont know man. been licensed for like 6 years now and lately i just cant seem to get motivated to even turn the radio on. been sitting here looking at my FT-991A for three weeks and just... nothing. not sure if its the weather or what. had a great run last winter on 40m and was working stations every night but now its like i forgot why i even got into this in the first place.

anyone else go through phases like this? do you just ride it out or is there something that kind of reignited it for you

yeah happens to me every summer honestly. i think part of it is propagation just being garbage on the bands i like. when 17m opens up again in the fall i always get the bug back real quick. sometimes i just throw on a contest weekend and work a few stations just to feel something lol. nothing crazy but it gets me back in the chair.

so anyway i went through this exact thing last year and what got me back was trying something completely different — i picked up a cheap HT and started messing around with APRS just to have a project. didnt even care that much about APRS specifically but having something to fiddle with and learn snapped me out of it. maybe find a new mode or something you havent tried yet, like FT8 if you havent gone down that rabbit hole or even just scanning some local repeaters to see whos around.
