okay so ive been interested in ham radio for probably two years now and i keep putting it off because i dont even know where to begin with the whole license thing. i know theres different levels, technician and then some others, but i dont really understand what you can actually do with each one or if its worth just trying to skip straight to the general or whatever its called.
my main thing is i want to eventually be able to talk to people farther away, like not just locally, i heard you need a higher license for that? but i also dont want to spend months studying if i can just take the technician test first and work my way up. is there like a standard way people do this or does everyone just kind of figure it out on their own
also what did people actually use to study, i found something called hamstudy.org and also some book but i dont know if i need the book or if the website is enough. the test is multiple choice right
