so ive been a General for about two years now and honestly been pretty happy with it, i get on 40m and 20m mostly, do some SSB and a little digital. a buddy at the club keeps telling me i should just go ahead and get my Extra but every time i look at the question pool i kind of freeze up. like the stuff about filter theory and transmission lines and all the impedance matching formulas... i passed the General without too much trouble but this feels like a different animal.
my actual question i guess is whether the extra privileges are really worth the study time for someone who isnt doing anything super exotic. like yeah i know you get the extra chunks of HF spectrum but how often do i actually need those. and does the theory stuff you learn actually help you on the air or is it just trivia for the test
