so ive been spending a lot of evenings just tuning around 40m and honestly its been pretty enjoyable lately, found a few regulars on a roundtable around 7.235 or so and just been checking in when i feel like it. nothing serious no dx chasing just good old ragchewing. feels like the band conditions have been decent enough, not spectacular but workable. anybody else doing the same or am i the only one who still just... sits on a frequency and talks to people lol

yeah 40m is my go-to for exactly that reason, always somebody around no matter what time it is. i usually hit it after dinner and just see whats happening. had a great 45 minute qso with a guy in tennessee last week about restoring old boatanchors, neither of us wanted to wrap it up. thats what its all about for me honestly

I tried 40m a few times but keep running into a lot of interference on my end, neighbors have something that just wipes out chunks of the band. might be a plasma tv or something. 80m has been better for me lately for local stuff but yeah ragchewing is underrated, people forget thats kinda the whole point of this hobby
