Open Ladder Line vs. Commercial 1" Ladder Line

Ham Radio Base has a really nice build guide for the ZS6BKW dipole antenna. But for the use of 450 ohm ladder line as the matching section, their spec is shorter than any other tutorial I've seen by several feet. Several articles spec 40' of Wireman ladder line cable or similar. The Ham Radio Base guide specs 31'. In their illustration they show true open ladder line, but in the FAQ, they seem to imply the use of typical ladder line is ok. I'm sure there's a difference in the VF, but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure if that measurement holds for either type.
