first WWFF activation went better than expected, few questions though

so i finally did my first WWFF activation last weekend at a state forest near me, had been meaning to do it for months and just kept putting it off. ended up setting up a simple wire antenna between two trees and running about 25 watts on 40m and 20m. got way more contacts than i expected, maybe 45 total over about 3 hours including several hunters who seemed really excited to get the reference in their log.

couple things im not totally sure about though. when i uploaded to the WWFF logbook do i need to wait for it to be confirmed or does it just show up automatically? i uploaded a csv and it said it went through but i cant find it searching the reference. also one of the hunters asked me if i was going to activate on 17m and i honestly didnt even think about it, is there any advantage to jumping around more bands on an activation or is it fine to just work a couple bands and call it done. the 44 qso minimum for a valid activation felt pretty manageable once the pile up got going

congrats on the first activation, always a good feeling when it comes together like that. the log upload can sometimes take a little while to show up in the search, maybe a day or two depending on when they process it. i'd give it 48 hours before worrying, and if it still doesnt show check that the reference number you used is formatted correctly because that trips a lot of people up the first time.

as for working multiple bands, yeah its worth it if you have the time and the setup to do it. some hunters are chasing band slots not just the reference, so if you can throw out a spot on 17m or 15m you'll often get a fresh wave of callers who already worked you on 40. i usually try to do at least three bands if conditions allow but two is totally fine for a valid activation. sounds like you had a solid outing honestly, 45 qsos in a state forest with a wire antenna is nothing to complain about

oh man i remember my first one, i was so nervous about getting enough contacts and then the pile up just kind of took over and i stopped worrying lol. did you put a spot on pota or wwff spotting network? i find that makes a huge difference, some folks only watch one or the other so i usually spot both just to be safe. the more hunters that know youre out there the faster that log fills up
