anyone else just like... enjoy sitting on 40m and listening?

i dunno, maybe im weird but sometimes i dont even want to transmit. just put on the headphones, tune around 40m in the evening and just listen to whoever's chatting. heard a couple guys last night talking about fishing of all things for like 45 minutes. it was weirdly relaxing. ham radio is strange and i love it

not weird at all, i do this more than i actually key up. 75m is good for this too, especially late at night when the old timers start their roundtables. you'll hear some genuinely wild stories if you stick around long enough. its basically AM talk radio but way more interesting because its just regular people.

yeah same honestly. got my ticket like 8 months ago and i think ive spent more time listening than transmitting lol. still kinda nervous to jump into a qso with people who clearly know what theyre doing
