IC-7300 audio completely dead after thunderstorm - not sure where to even start

so this has been sitting on my bench for about two weeks now because i keep putting off dealing with it. basically we had a pretty bad storm roll through and i had everything unplugged at the coax but apparently forgot to unplug the rig itself from the wall. came back in after the storm and the radio powers on fine, all the display stuff looks normal, i can see the waterfall working and it seems to be receiving based on the S meter moving around, but absolutely zero audio out of the speaker. tried a headphone plug in the front and nothing there either.

ive already swapped the speaker with a known good one and checked the obvious menu settings for audio levels. the AF gain knob doesnt seem to be doing anything at all which is making me think something upstream of the final audio stage got cooked. im decent with a soldering iron and have a decent DMM but i dont have a scope at the moment which is probably gonna make this harder. anyone been inside one of these for audio related issues? wondering if theres a known weak point or if im just gonna have to trace the whole audio chain hoping to find something visibly burnt.

had something similar happen to a buddys 7300 a while back, not storm related but the audio just died one day. ended up being a blown op-amp in the audio section, think it was on the main RF board somewhere. the service manual is actually pretty decent for tracing that chain if you can get a copy, which you probably can find without too much trouble. without a scope your gonna have a rough time confirming signal at each stage but you can at least poke around with the DMM checking supply voltages first. if the audio IC isnt getting its rail voltages right that narrows it down fast. also worth checking if there are any small SMD fuses near the audio output section, icom sometimes puts those in and they can fail without any visible sign.

the AF gain not responding at all is a pretty telling symptom honestly. on the 7300 the audio path goes through a DSP section before it ever hits a physical pot so if the knob is doing literally nothing i'd lean toward something in the digital audio processing side rather than a blown output transistor or whatever. might be worth doing a full factory reset first if you havent, just to rule out something getting corrupted in the firmware during the power event. sounds dumb but ive seen weird stuff happen to settings after a surge. if that doesnt do anything then yeah youre probably looking at board level diagnosis. icom repair depot isnt cheap but if you cant find the fault yourself it might be the realistic option depending on how much the rig is worth to you.
