anyone else do the Thursday night net on 80m? missed check-in again

so ive been trying to get into the habit of checking into the regional traffic net on Thursday nights, 80 meters, 3.935 or wherever they end up depending on QRM. the problem is i keep forgetting until like 9:45 and by then net control has already closed it up. i think they start at 9:30 but honestly i cant find a consistent schedule written down anywhere, the club website hasnt been updated since like 2019.

anyway my actual question is does anyone know if theres a good centralized place to find net schedules? like a database or something. i know the ARRL has something but last time i looked it was kind of a mess to navigate. also wondering if any of you regulars have tips for actually remembering to tune in, i keep telling myself ill set a phone alarm and then i dont.

also heard there was a special event station this weekend for some railroad museum or something, W4 something, did anyone work them? curious if they were on SSB or just digital.

yeah the ARRL net directory is what most people use, it's at arrl.org/resources/nets or something close to that, you can search by band and mode and region. it's not perfect but it usually has the right info if the net manager bothered to update it. some nets also list themselves on the amateur radio newsline site.

for the Thursday night thing honestly the best move is just finding one of the regular members and asking them directly. nets drift around in frequency more than any website will tell you, especially on 80 where the band conditions move everybody around. i've been net control for our county ARES net for going on six years now and half the time we're 10 kHz off from where we're supposed to be just because somebody was already there.

set two alarms. one at 9:15 and one at 9:25. works for me.

oh the railroad museum one, yeah i worked them Saturday morning around 11am local, they were on 14.265 SSB mostly, op was super friendly and the exchange was easy, just your call and state basically. i think they also had a digital op running but i didnt catch them on that. the QSL is a cool looking card if you go for that sort of thing, they had info on their website for the direct address.

totally understand the net schedule thing btw i am in the same boat as you, i downloaded some app a while back that was supposed to have net schedules but it was pretty out of date too. word of mouth from the club is honestly still the most reliable way i've found
