first WWFF activation went better than expected - some questions though

so i finally did my first WWFF activation last weekend at a local nature reserve and honestly had a blast. been meaning to try it for months after reading about it here and on the POTA groups but kept putting it off. ended up running about 3 hours on 40m SSB and got maybe 47 QSOs which i think is enough to qualify the reference? i had to look that up like four times because i kept second guessing myself - its 44 right?

anyway the thing i'm not totally sure about is logging. i used my normal paper log and transferred everything to ADIF after but im not clear on how to submit it specifically for WWFF vs just uploading to LOTW. do they have their own portal or does it go through a national coordinator or something. i saw mention of wwff.app but wasnt sure if thats the right place or if thats just for tracking hunters.

also had a really nice chat with a german station who said he was specifically hunting WWFF refs and was super excited when i gave him the reference number, so that was cool to see it actually being used internationally. makes me want to do more of these for sure

congrats on your first one, 47 QSOs is a solid activation especially if conditions werent great. and yeah 44 is the magic number to count as a valid activation for the reference, you're good.

for logging, wwff.app is actually the right place - theres a spot to upload your ADIF directly and it'll go to the global database. depending on what country you're in there might also be a national coordinator who handles things slightly differently but for most folks the app handles it fine. just make sure your ADIF has the WWFF reference tagged properly or at least mentioned in the notes field, the system is pretty forgiving but it helps. LOTW is separate and you'd still want to upload there too for the DXCC and other awards side of things, they dont talk to each other automatically.

that german hunter thing is one of my favorite parts of WWFF honestly, there's a really active international community chasing these refs and some of them have thousands of unique references confirmed. you'll start getting spotted on the WWFF nets and it really does pick up

nice work getting out there. i did my first activation like two years ago and was totally confused about the logging thing too, took me a while to figure out the wwff.app system but its actually pretty straightforward once you do it once. the hardest part for me was remembering to actually say the reference on air so hunters can log it properly, i forgot like three times in my first outing lol
