anyone else do the weekly nets regularly? looking to get more check-ins going

so ive been checking into a couple of nets pretty regularly for the past few months now and honestly its one of my favorite parts of the hobby at this point. started with the local 2m repeater net on tuesday nights and then found a couple HF nets that i really enjoy, theres one on 40m that runs sunday mornings and the net control guys are just super welcoming even to newer operators like me.

anyway i got to thinking it would be cool to know what nets other people here are checking into, especially any special event stations or one-time things coming up. i feel like i miss a lot of those because i dont really know where to look for them ahead of time. is there like a good central place to find net schedules or do most people just kind of stumble onto them? the ARRL site has some stuff but it feels incomplete to me. also wondering if anyone participates in things like the traffic nets, i tried one once and got a little lost on the procedure but it seemed interesting.

the ARRL Net Directory is probably the most complete thing out there but yeah it definitely has gaps, a lot of the regional and local nets just dont bother listing themselves there. honestly word of mouth is still how i find most of the good ones. the guys at my radio club always seem to know whats coming up, special event stations especially.

for traffic nets specifically, NTS is worth looking into if youre curious about that side of things. it took me a few sessions to get the hang of the formal message format but once it clicks its actually pretty satisfying. the Pacific NTS guys were real patient with me when i was learning. just listen for a few sessions before you dive in and youll get the rhythm of it.

there are also some good Facebook groups and email reflectors for specific nets if you can track those down, thats where a lot of the schedule updates actually happen these days even if nobody wants to admit it

oh man i didnt even know the ARRL had a net directory, im definitely going to look that up. i just got my general a couple months ago and ive only done like two check-ins so far, both on the local repeater. HF nets sound kind of intimidating to me still but maybe ill try lurking on one and see how it goes. what frequency is that 40m sunday one you mentioned?
