first WWFF activation went better than expected, few questions though

so i finally did my first WWFF activation last weekend at a local nature reserve about 45 minutes from home, KFF-something i had to look up the reference number on the WWFF website. honestly i wasnt sure what to expect since ive done a handful of POTA activations before but WWFF felt a bit more involved with the logging and uploading stuff.

took the 857D and a simple end-fed wire up into a tree, bands were ok maybe not great, 40m was busy but i squeezed in and had a decent run going after maybe 20 minutes. ended up with 34 QSOs which i know isnt massive but more than enough to qualify the reference. got a couple hunters who specifically said they were hunting WWFF which was cool, felt more international somehow than my usual POTA stuff, had a guy from germany and someone from japan call in which never really happens when i just operate from home.

anyway my questions are - do i upload to both WWFF and ADIF separately or does one feed the other, and also can the same QSOs count for both a POTA activation and WWFF if the park happens to be in both programs? i think this nature reserve might be in both but im not sure how that works. any of you guys doing WWFF regularly?

congrats on the first one, that feeling when a european or JA calls in during a park activation is pretty special honestly. to answer your questions - yes you can absolutely log the same QSOs for both POTA and WWFF if the reference exists in both programs, a lot of US national parks and nature areas are in both and operators do this all the time. you just upload the ADIF to each platform separately. WWFF uses their own logging system at wwff.co and you upload there, POTA gets its own upload. they dont talk to each other automatically as far as i know.

one thing to double check is whether your nature reserve is actually listed in the WWFF directory as a valid KFF reference. sometimes places are in one program but not the other. the WWFF website has a searchable database, just punch in the name or coordinates and it should come up. 34 QSOs is a solid first activation, qualifying contact counts are lower for WWFF than some people expect so youre well above threshold.

yeah the international thing is real, thats what got me into WWFF over just doing POTA. dont get me wrong i still do POTA but there seems to be a bigger european hunter community actively looking for WWFF references and they really go for the rarer ones. if you activate a reference thats never been activated before or hasnt been done in years you can get a real pileup going even with modest power and wire antennas.

also worth joining the WWFF facebook group or checking spots on wwff.co because people spot activations there and youll get way more hunters calling you if youre visible on the spotting network. i forget to self spot sometimes and it makes a huge difference in how many contacts you get in the first 15 minutes.
