anyone else just kind of lose interest in HF for a while and then come back?

so anyway ive been licensed since like 2011 and honestly went through a stretch of maybe 2 years where the radio just sat there collecting dust. life stuff, work, you know how it goes. but lately ive been getting back into it and its like rediscovering it all over again. hopped on 40m last night and worked a guy in finland which honestly felt way more exciting than it probably should have lol. just curious if this is a common thing or if im the weird one

totally normal i think. i did the same thing after i upgraded to general and then just... stopped for like 18 months. came back when a buddy dragged me to a field day and now i cant put the mic down. 40m at night is the best honestly, especially when the band opens up to europe. that finland contact would've had me grinning too

yeah same here. mine was more like 6 months but felt longer. i think part of it was i didnt really have a goal, like i wasnt chasing any awards or anything and just got bored calling cq with no answers. once i started working towards DXCC it gave me a reason to actually sit down and tune around
