so ive been meaning to ask, is anyone from here planning on heading out to the Tri-County hamfest Saturday morning? i went last year and it was pretty decent, found a old Kenwood HT for like 20 bucks that actually works fine after i cleaned the battery contacts. thinking of going again mostly for the swap tables honestly, the forums and presentations are fine but im really just there to dig through boxes of junk

also does anyone know if theyre doing the VE session again this year? my nephew is trying to get his tech license and it might be a good excuse to drag him along

yeah im planning on going, usually get there right when the gates open because all the good stuff disappears fast. last time i waited til 10am and everything decent was already gone. bring cash, half the vendors dont do venmo or whatever

i checked their website and it looks like the VE session is at 9am in the main building, registration starts at 8:30 i think. i did my tech exam at one of these a few years ago actually, way less stressful than i expected. tell your nephew to just relax and read through the question pool a couple times, thats pretty much all i did
