anyone else just sitting on 40m on a friday night with nothing particular going on

so its been a slow week and i just fired up the rig and im kind of just scanning around 40m listening to whatever. heard a couple guys ragchewing about their lawnmowers for like 20 minutes which honestly was more entertaining than tv. been a while since ive just done this without any agenda, no contests, no nets, just listening. forgot how much i liked it. band conditions werent great but there was this station out of somewhere in the midwest coming in real clear around 7.250 and we had a nice little chat for maybe half an hour. reminded me why i got into this in the first place honestly.

yeah 40m on friday nights is kind of its own thing. i usually end up on there after dinner just to see whos around. half the time its the same three guys talking about the same stuff but i dont mind, its just nice background noise while im doing other stuff in the shack. lawnmower conversations are a ham radio tradition i think lol

this is actually what got me to upgrade from tech to general last year, i wanted to get on 40m for exactly this reason. still figuring out the unwritten rules of who hangs out where on the band but its been fun so far
