anyone else just sitting on 40m watching the band die

so its like 9pm local time and ive been parked on 7.250 for the past hour just kind of half listening while i do other stuff. picked up a few stations down in florida and a guy in tennessee who had a really nice signal but the band is just... quiet tonight. not bad quiet just that weird empty kind of quiet where you know somethings out there but nobody feels like talking i guess

anyway not really a question just felt like saying something. been a weird week and sometimes just having the radio on in the background is enough. anybody else do this or am i just getting old lol

yeah i do this all the time honestly. 40m at night is weirdly relaxing even when its dead. i usually spin around the lower end looking for cw just to hear something happening. had a solid qso with a guy in ohio last tuesday around that same time, band was nothing special but we talked for like 45 minutes about his old drake setup. some nights its like that and some nights you just monitor and call it

not weird at all lol my wife thinks im crazy cause ill just have the rig on while watching tv. dont even really transmit half the time just kinda listening. 40m is my comfort band i guess if that makes sense
