so i just got home from work and figured id spin the dial on 40 for a bit, nothing serious just listening around. its been a while since ive actually sat down and done this without some agenda like a contest or trying to work a specific station. just nice to hear the band alive you know. caught a couple guys ragchewing down around 7.250 or so, sounded like they've been talking every night for years. thats kind of the thing i miss about this hobby sometimes, just the casualness of it. anyway if anyones on tonight throw out a call or something, im around

yeah 40 has been pretty decent in the evenings lately, had a nice qso with a guy in ohio last week just totally random, he was running like 50 watts into a dipole and sounded great here in colorado. those kind of contacts are honestly more fun to me than the big pileups half the time

im still figuring out my antenna situation so i cant really transmit yet but ive been doing the same thing just listening. its actually a really good way to learn i think, you start to recognize voices and figure out the unwritten rules of how people talk. didnt expect to enjoy just listning as much as i do
