so ive been doing POTA for about a year now and somebody at my club mentioned WWFF and honestly i didn't even know it was a thing. looked it up and it seems pretty similar but more international? i think? i found a nature reserve about 20 minutes from my house that has a WWFF reference and im wondering if i just... go there and operate and log it the same way as POTA or if theres some whole different process for registering an activation

also do chasers actually call in for WWFF specifically or is it mostly people who are already hunting POTA and just happen to log it for both programs. my buddy said most of his contacts during WWFF activations were dual logging anyway but i wasnt sure if thats just a thing in his area. im in the midwest if that matters

any advice appreciated, just dont want to show up and do it completely wrong

WWFF is great and honestly kind of underrated compared to POTA at least in North America. the process is pretty similar yeah - you go, you operate, you need 44 QSOs to get a full activation counted (vs 10 for POTA which is a big difference honestly). some references overlap with POTA references and some dont so worth checking the wwff.cc site to see what your specific reference is listed as

for spotting you can use the POTA spotting network but there's also a WWFF specific cluster. i'd post to both if you can. and yes a LOT of operators dual log, especially the more experienced chasers. you'll find some hunters who specifically chase WWFF and get pretty excited when someone activates a less common reference. i activated a state forest up here in Minnesota last fall and had a pile up i wasnt expecting at all, couple of European stations found me which was cool

just register your callsign on wwff.cc before you go, upload your log after and you should be good. dont overthink it

oh man i just did my first one like two months ago, i was nervous too lol. the 44 QSO requirement threw me off at first because im used to POTA where 10 is enough to count. took me a while but i got there. bring more battery than you think you need and honestly just have fun with it, the chasers are super friendly and plenty of people will ask which programs you're activating so they can log accordingly
