Hi everyone! I'm a new Extra (got my license 6 months ago) and I'm getting confused by all the DX awards out there. DXCC requires contacts with 100 countries which seems like a lot for someone still learning about propagation. Should I start with something easier like WAS or WAC first? Also, what's the difference between LoTW and eQSL for confirmations? Any guidance for a newcomer would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to DXing! WAC requires all six continents which is a great starting point - much more achievable than 100 countries. Start there, then move to WAS (all 50 states) and its endorsements. These will teach you the basics of award hunting and propagation patterns.

LoTW confirmations count toward ARRL awards like DXCC and WAS, while eQSL doesn't count for ARRL awards but has its own program. LoTW is cheaper than mailing cards and doesn't require verification. I'd set up LoTW first since you'll need it eventually for the major awards.

Don't feel overwhelmed! I started with WAC and got it in my first month of operating. WAS, WAC, and WAZ are the most popular awards to begin with. The learning curve for each award builds on the previous one, so you're gaining valuable experience with each step.
