so ive been trying to work some DX on 17m and 15m this past week and honestly the conditions have just been all over the place. some days the solar flux is up around 160 and i can hear europe clear as a bell around 1400-1500 UTC, then the next day its back down to like 130 and everything goes quiet. checked the DXmaps and theres activity showing but i cant hear squat.
had a really weird thing happen tuesday where i worked a JA station on 15m with my 100w and a dipole, which felt like a miracle honestly, and then literally 20 minutes later the band just died. like hard cutoff. wasnt a gray line thing either, at least i dont think so. K index was low so i wouldnt expect a geomagnetic thing. just curious if anyone else is seeing this kind of behavior or if its something on my end. antenna has been checked, no issues there.
also noticed 10m has been teasing me. it opens up for maybe an hour sometimes in the afternoon to south america and then poof. is this just what solar cycle 25 looks like right now or am i missing something about how to predict these short openings better
