ok so i just got my technician license a couple months ago and ive been reading through part 97 trying to figure out exactly what im allowed to do. its honestly pretty confusing. like i get that i have HF privileges on 10m above a certain frequency and obviously VHF/UHF stuff but the part thats throwing me off is the stuff about third party communications and what counts as business communications.
my brother wants me to relay a message to someone at a hamfest about picking up some equipment he wants to buy. is that allowed? it feels like it might be crossing into business use territory but i genuinely dont know where the line is. and also does it matter if money changes hands or just the intent? i tried googling this and got like 5 different answers
